What is Propolis?
Propolis, used in beehives, is a solid antibacterial substance that bees make by mixing sap from herbs and trees they gather with their own enzyme-containing saliva. Bees apply this propolis to the outer walls and gaps of their hives to prevent the entry of viruses and bacteria, and to embalm dead insects within the hive.
